One way to mitigate damage from leaping headcrabs is by backing up and putting obstacles in between you as you fight them. That said, you don’t want them to leap onto you, as they can do some serious damage. Headcrabs are some of the most common enemies you can face in Half-Life: Alyx, and they generally go down with three or four well-placed pistol shots.
The best strategy to get rid of bloaters is to kill them from a distance by either blowing them up with explosives or shooting them several times until they explode.įirst appearance: Chapter 2: The Quarantine Zone If you shoot them, but don't make them explode all the way, they will regenerate after a few seconds. You can easily kill a barnacle, or even a cluster of barnacles, by throwing an oil canister or other explosive into their reach.įirst appearance: Chapter 5: The Northern Starīloaters are explosive green pustules that will explode if you stand next to them for too long. You need four pistol rounds to take each one down, but they’re often worth killing rather than evading, as they can drop ammo and even sometimes Resin. Barnacles hang from the ceiling and make life miserable for everybody with long tendrils that suck items, grenades, and even Alyx’s face into their big, toothy mouths.
